London terrorists from Leeds

Assuming that British police have it right, it now appears that the London bombers were young British Muslims living in Leeds. If true, this underscores the point I made in my last post on these terrible events: We need to focus on why terrorist leaders seem to be able to recruit willing volunteers with such ease. Understanding this question does not excuse these acts, but it will go much further towards stopping them than all the overheated and empty headed rhetoric from Bush and Blair about "defending our values."

Terrorism is usually linked to real or perceived injustices, whether it be the war in Iraq, the treatment of Palestinians, or other causes. That does not mean that we should give in to terrorist demands no matter what they are--but why do we continue to give young Muslims the perceived justification to carry out these terrible acts? The suffocation death of Iraqi prisoners reported in today's news will not help matters any either.
